Harald ᚦöngull (tangled hair) made the oath to not wash or comb his beard until he had become sole king of Nóregr/Norðvegr (Norway). When he prevailed at Slaget i Hafrsfjord (the Battle of Hafrsfjord) in 872 CE (124 ES), he finally cut, washed, and combed his beard, becoming known as Haraldr hárfagri (Harald Fairhair). As one could imagine though, it got pretty bad in the meantime, earning him the nickname of “Lúfa” in Old Norse, which stands for thick, dirty, and matted hair.
Hence the name, Lúfamjólk, of this waterless beard cleaner (with mjólk standing for milk, as the cleaner is actually white).
The Finnish vodka base cleans and disinfects your beard. The inherently drying aspect of removing oil and dirt from your hair is offset by natural seed oils, with an additional layer of protection being provided by beads of sheep wool oil. Lúfamjólk does not leave residues on your hands or beard. Lúfamjólk will even offer some protection against insects.
Lúfamjólk should be vehemently shaken before use, and is not intended to replace showers. Lúfamjólk provides instead an occasional alternative to keeping your beard clean when you are in the field with no access to water (or water in a liquid state). Lúfamjólk will also work on hair and pits.
