Sweden is shaken by a number of serious criminal cases. In particular, the number of rapes has exploded.
The rate for reported rapes is very low, which also contributes to large numbers of undisclosed incidents, since most rapes are not reported. And once rapes are solved and the perpetrator is convicted, the penalties are often low.
An example of this we see in a recent ruling from Sweden, which is mentioned by Samhâllsnytt .
Raped 12-year-old until she was bleeding from the abdomen
17-year-old Mikael Shaba tricked a 12-year-old girl into taking her down to a basement. There he raped the girl so brutally that it caused bleeding from the abdomen. He later boasted about what had happened to friends and acquaintances.
Eskilstuna District Court rules that the crime should be punished with just over a week of community service and a number of conversations with a social worker.
The young girl tells the police that she knew who Shaba was, and that she was contacted via Snapchat. She states that he comes from another country, but does not know which country. She says that Shaba knew that she was only 12 years old.
The girl did not dare tell her parents about the rape, but her brother found out about it after he heard Shaba bragging about the incident to his friends.
Mikael Shaba denies everything, and claims the girl must have injured her abdomen herself. He also claims that she is the one who has spread rumors about the rape.
A friend who was staying in an adjoining room did not see the rape itself, but confirms that she heard screams of pain and other strange sounds. She also states that the victim was in great pain when she peed in the woods after the assault.
The victim suffers from psychosomatic symptoms after the rape, and has, among other things, lost much of his hair. She has been in over 40 conversations with a psychologist.
The verdict
The court states that the crime has a penalty of at least two years in prison, but due to Shaba's young age, he is sentenced to 100 hours of community service, which with a 50 percent penalty discount is reduced to 50 hours. In addition, he must participate in 15 conversations about violence with a social worker.
Mikael Shaba has previously been convicted of driving illegally.
