A little late for a snowshoes review, but we had to use them all winter to provide a better assessment!
Fimbulvetr, which means “awful great winter” in Norrœnt (Old Norse), is the immediate prelude to the events of Ragnarøkr. It is also a Norwegian company that manufactures high quality snowshoes right in Norway.
Their Tankr-X snowshoes are simply the motha of all snowshoes. They are a jaw dropping nearly one meter long (38”) and 25cm wide (10”), but only weight just over 3kgs (7 lbs). This means these snowshoes are even suitable for Blendingar. They include an all direction flexible hinge system that allows you to adapt smoothly to any snow surface ensuring excellent traction and stability. The Hugin (yup) binding is easy to mount, and provides tight secure fitting without any pressure point, for long days (or nights) or comfortable use. The Tankr-X are also particularly reliable as they do not include permanent mechanical features destined to break/fail at some point. They are also completely functional at -40C/-40F for extreme cold weather operations, and are simply indestructible. Their design allows for operation on any terrain, including mountain, with particularly heavy loads and exceptional maneuverability.
And did we mention they are made in Norway, supporting our people rather than some enemies offshore?
