PUTTING THEORY INTO PRACTICE

Well, this is what this course is for: To show you how to deal with injuries and other problems in the middle of nowhere, where there's no immediate access to emergency services. It's like an advanced wilderness first aid course, but without the civilian bullshit, emphasizing instead on a military, and you guessed it, traditional viking approach.

CAMP ORGANIZATION

The Hraunslækning camp (don't bother trying to pronounce it) is conducted over the course of two days and one night (yes, you will learn stuff at night), in an outdoor or wilderness environment.

This camp follows the APT concept: Assess (Kunna), Prioritize (Kjósa), and Treat (Bœta), stressing the practical aspect of it (and you as well in the process).

This course is a continuation of the Lækning course (Viking First Aid - Online.)

WHAT'S COVERED IN THE HRAUNSLÆKNING CAMP

ASSESS (KUNNA)

Before you can do anything, you need to assess the situation and potential dangers. Dying trying to assist isn't gonna help anybody, and the level of risk you may be willing to take will vary whether you are dealing with complete strangers or your own bro(s). When several victims are involved, you're gonna have to make tough choices as well.

PRIORITIZE (KJÓSA)

Once you have assessed the situation, you first need to deal with the life threatening stuff, and check for breathing, bleeding, and a beating heart. If any of this requires attention, you need to address it super quickly, or the bro will die.

TREAT (BŒTA)

Once you dealt with the life-threatening stuff, you can start treating other injuries and conditions, with whatever you have available, usually not much because you are in the middle of nowhere, remember? And yeah, this includes the local plants and trees.
